Located in southwest Oregon, the city of Medford is just 27 mi (43 km) north of the California border and approximately 118 mi (190 km) east of the Pacific Ocean. The seat of Jackson county and one of the largest cities in southern Oregon, Medford is close to several famous attractions, such as Crater Lake National Park and historic Jacksonville. Crater Lake National Park features the beautiful Crater Lake and a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, picnicking and camping. Historic Jacksonville, located just 5 mi (8 km) west of Medford, is home to over 100 historic buildings, providing visitors with a glimpse of the glorious times gold mining brought to southern Oregon. A variety of events and activities are also hosted at Medford, such as the annual Medford Jazz Jubilee and Art in Bloom, both attracting thousands of visitors each year.
